What your audition will look like:
- A bit of solo work (maximum of 32 measures), your choice. Bring music for the accompanist.
- Sight-singing
- An excerpt from Handel's Messiah
It is important for singers to be able to sight-sing, and/or learn their part quickly (whether by ear, using piano, or working with mp3 files). It is also very important to be able to demonstrate your ability to recognize varying styles and be able to adapt your singing, accordingly.
To learn the passage from The Messiah you may download the musical excerpt (PDF file or jpgs) and accompanying mp3. Be able to sing your voice part of "Let us break their bonds asunder" from The Messiah through to letter "B" in the middle of pg 163.
Voice types needed: Although all voice types are welcome to audition, the Chamber Singers are particularly looking for a few good tenors.
Rehearsals: The Ohlone Chamber Singers meet on the Ohlone College campus on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm during the regular school term (August through May).
Current Director: The OCS welcomes Michael Morris as the director/conductor for the 2011-2012 season. |
